London prices are appalling but they can get away with it.

Locally can still pay 3-3.50 a pint at certain membership clubs etc.

"Cut the prices and people will return"

Dunno if that's necessarily true. The cheapest pub on a strip is almost always the worst, full of old pissheads etc, and the younger crowd are more into the Instagrammy image these days where more expensive is better.

Students are an exception but no cunt wants to go where they go

Re: £8.00 a Pint?
Absolute piss take . I remember it hitting 2 pound a pint in the late 90s. And there was complaints then . No wonder so many pubs have gone to the wall since . Cut the prices and people will return . I know so many people who drink indoors cos it's too expensive to drink in a boozer it's a joke .

Shocking.......it makes petrol and diesel seem cheap in comparison!

Re: £8.00 a Pint?
its crazy. When I left the UK it was teetering on £3 a pint and that was 15years ago. Got a real shock when I came back in 2019 and was staying in the west end. Shameless profiteering and YES the old pub culture is on the way out, which is a real shame as for many, including me growing up it was the centre of our social lives. Beers used to be the drink of choice for the working class man and it has to be out of reach for many at those prices.
Over here the prices vary wildly, you can get for as little as $3 or $4 or a two-for-one deal in happy hour and as much as $10, so the average falling between $6 and $8 for a draft of something half decent. Still pretty steep.

Nights out are so expensive in Dublin now that it gets discussed in their parliament regularly

Manuel/Luke

Liverpool and Manchester of a weekend are packed full of Irish who consider flying to England a really cheap night out, and were talking of a pint in Dublin being north of €10 years ago.

CHL - Yea would have to agree, last time I was in the UK was pleasantly surprised I could still get a pint for circa 3 quid.

Re: £8.00 a Pint?
TBH we've had it easy for a long long time. I can recall even 8 or 10 years back with people paying 6 or 7 euros for a 330ml bottle of nothing much in many bars and eateries out in France. Nobody batted an eyelid. It's frightening how quickly folks accept a financial kick in the bollocks... and not just on beer prices either. Most of the 'cost of living' increases going on right now are often little more than sheer 100% profiteering. Greed.

Re: £8.00 a Pint?
Spoons real ales £2.19 but very hit and miss regards condition
The other pub i drink in which shows all the live sport on several decent screens charges £3 20 for London pride & £4.40 for Peroni so not to bad.
The so called Craft ales such as Camden Hells etc are ridiculously overpriced in most places £6 a pint
The word Craft seems to add a £2 surcharge.

Re: £8.00 a Pint?
I would happily pay £15 a pint and wouldn't bat an eyelid. But then £15 is nothing for people on six figure salaries like me.

Dunno if they'd let you get away with sitting in your pants though

Weed is becoming more popular with youngsters instead of alcohol. This is helped by its legality in the US so lots of Influencers smoke on their channels etc and kids see it as being legal
